Music and art are basic functions that human cannot function without. Irrespective of whether one is taking pleasure or creating it, sound is unavoidable. Music has been highly valued by people as a significant interaction in life. It has been used for enjoyment, listening, emotional response, and performing. Music reflects and makes social conditions that hold up social change. All kinds of music are available to many people throughout and easily as technological advancements continue to occur. Life contains different occasions requiring appropriate music to fit each occasion. This brings about different types of music which are associated with various occasions and stages in life. How do your choices reflect your childhood experiences? Music in childhood is important as it has many benefits to the physical and mental development of the child. The type of music in this stage is referred to as lullabies and tunes because at this stage, children are receptive to pitch and rhythm which are the main elements of these songs. To respond to music, some children sing, dance, hum, screech while others chant it. Others attempt to create new music, play, and dance to go with it. There are many benefits brought by theses songs. Firstly, over centuries these songs have been used to lull toddlers and young babies to sleep by soothing them. Secondly, through dancing and handling of musical instruments, physical benefits outstand. Also, development of voice and speech takes place through singing. It is evident that, auditory training leads to improvement in both concentration and listening skills. Through singing, children acquire these skills and develop them easily.
